mi familia, Thank you to all who sent me happy birthday wishes!!! It was such an incredible birthday :) AND HERE'S WHY So as a missionary, the birthday life is a little different. It is basically a normal day. But this year, our mission did something really awesome and it happened to land on the 17th! They did what they call "The Federal Way Festival of Finding" so all the missionaries in our whole mission went finding all day, from 10 am to 5 pm. Finding basically means we go out and talk to everyone we see and try to find people who are interested to hear the message. This includes knocking doors and talking to people on the street and doing bascially everything we can to talk to lots of people. What better Birthday gift than to talk with tons of people? EXACTLY. It was awesome, and even though we found basically no spanish speakers, we found a lot of people interested for the English missionaries. We went on splits with a lot of other sisters. Splits means that I went with one of them and Hermana Souza went with her companion and we blitzed the area meaning all of us contacted there and it was just more opportunity to talk with more people and it was cool because if either group ran into a spanish speaker they had someone who could talk to them. It also allowed us to learn a lot from the other missionaries :) Time went super fast and then for the last two hours from 3-5 we decided to try caroling. So It was me and 4 other English sisters from different areas and I kid you not the first door we knocked was only spanish speaking! I was the only one there able to talk to them and I did and he was so interested! He said "when can you come back?" and i was like LIKE BASICALLY ALWAYS. It was awesome, and also made me feel really good that I could hold me own when I was the only one there who knew SPanish! I guess the language is coming and I didn't even realize it. That night we had our branch Christmas party too and I guess somehow they all found out it was my birthday and the whole branch sang to me Feliz cumpleanos :) I felt very loved. Lots of members reached out and bought me food and gave me hugs and it was just such a great day. Other major news! Thursday we had a zone conference with the whole southern half of the mission and i played cello for a song! hahahahah I know you're all probably like WHAT but yeah I whipped out the cello and played a duet with the other Elder in our spanish branch who also plays. It went really well I think! ANyways, that was most of this week. Can't wait until I see your faces in a short week! Las quiero, Hermana Reed
