mi familia, que buena semana hemos tenido aqui in Federal Way, o por su nombre mas comun, Federal WHITE porque esta area es TAN PREPARADA. Hemos visto tantos milagros este translado pasado, y continuen ahorita. Aqui es nuestra semana: This week, we started teaching Petra more. She is the mom of the member that we knocked into last week and her literal first words after we said the opening prayer "Okay que tengo que hacer para bautizarme?". WOAH OKAY HEY. It was amazing. We told her about the charlas and la ley de castidad, to which she responded (because she lives with her boyfriend) "Voy a preguntarle si el quiere casarse conmigo, pero si dice no, el tiene que irse". HEY THERE POWER HITTER. She is such a strong lady and so so so so ready for the gospel which is crazy because she says she's been to church loads of times but recently something has just changed and she knows its time for her to get baptized. INCREIBLE. We also starting teaching Maricella and Kimberly, the cousin of this same member (this member is a powerhouse, Hermana Vallejo). They are both super interested. Watched conference and she said the spirit told her if she wants to know the truth, she has to read the book of mormon. I definitely agree thats a good way to find out! They are all amazing and I just feel so blessed to be able to know them and teach them here. We also had MLC this week which is mission leadership conference. I just love learning from all of these incredibly experienced missionaries and mostly realizing there is so much I want to change and improve in my missionary work and who I am as a person. Good thing the Lord is nice and patient with me hehe. This is Hermana Huhem's last transfer *insert tears* so who knows what's going to happen with the hermana lideres but it should be.. crazy. This week we also had a big Easter activity we've been planning for a while with our branch. It went super well. I got some sweet ideas from all the christmas activities mom has thrown and we got all the members to bring a picture of christ or a picture of their family and we put them all in the front of the chapel so there were like a bunch of pictures of Christ and we watched this powerpoint one of our members made of the living Christ. If anyone reading this hasnt read that document or hasnt read it in the last month, go read it right now and remember that CHRIST LIVES! He's the reason we do everything and can do everything. Then we showed the new video and had everyone there read it! If you haven't seen prince of peace, also go check that out and the 8 sub videos of how we can find more peace in life through christ at mormon.org :) THE CHURCH IS SO TRUE AND IM SO HAPPY :) lo mas que sabe.... VAYAN Y APRENDAN. I hope you all have a happy Easter and you take some time to really think about the impact it has that we know that Christ lives. It's pretty big. Los quiero! Hermana Reed IV Picturas!!!

WHAT A WEEK. this week was quite possibly one of the best in my whole mission. So many miracles and tender mercies. I am so grateful for how aware the Lord is of us in this work and how he gives me PAN every day :) So this week, I had exchanges with the hermanas in Graham so i had one day with Hermana Souza and one day with Hermana Mcgarity. I love exchanges because so many miracles every time... with hermana souza it just brought me back to how i felt at the beginning of my mission and i was just so happy and realized i need to be less stressed out like i was back then. but it was so good being with my mom again :) next transfer we're hoping she'll come here and be in a trio with me and hermana short and then everywhere we go we'll talk about family history because we're 3 generations hahaha. then i went to graham with hermana mcgarity and more flashbacks from the beginning of my mission.. i feel so old! but so grateful to learn from such amazing missionaries like both of them. GENERAL CONFERENCE AM I RIGHT. I am seriously so grateful we don't live in the great apostasy and that we have modern day prophets to lead and guide us. I recieved so much guidance and answers to my questions and those of my investigators which i think is my favorite part, recieveing so much revelation. And as president monson says, if youre not reading the book of mormon every day DO IT. Couldnt have said it better myself. we had a few investigators come and watch with us and the spirit was just so strong :) I love watching it in spanish too because i think thats really the language in which god talks to me. i hope you all were able to watch just a little and feel the spirit of the lord from our modern day leaders. best part of this week: GRAEME GOT BAPTIZED!!! i was able to go down to his baptism in Graham and man i cried it was so good. He was able to be baptized by his dad and i loved how his earthly father was able to help him make a covenant with his heavenly father. the church is so true and families are forever. quote of the night, right after he came up out of the water and was hugging his dad "i love you daddy". THE TEARS THEY DID FLOW. okay im typing rigorously because i dont have much time but i love this church and this gospel and i know that families CAN be together forever because of the restored priesthood authority of God :) so grateful that i am in federal way sharing this message with the world hermana reed IV pues, aqui estamos. another week in the great fed weezy with so much action it just never stops. Heres an update on our investigators: The Fuentes family: Laticia, Destiny, and Monae. Once upon a time were going to get baptized this week. Can't because Laticia and her husband aren't married yet. Recently found our they are getting kicked out of their apartment so have been looking for a new one this whole week and haven't had time to meet with us. Decided that even though it was the sabbath that "apartment hunting was first hermanas" so weren't able to come to church ): sad but they are very stressed out about finding a place to live. We stopped by later and were able to talk with Miguel who isnt interested in learning but we are trying to help be interested in marrying, when we found out he is married to a girl in mexico who he hasnt seen for 25 years! To top that off, we dont think Laticia knows about it :) and the plot thickens... we can throw some prayers in for them if you all could. They know the church is true and want to be baptized so bad!! We are doing all we can to help them realize that is still is possible. We were teaching a lady named Maria Torres, she is from Mexico and works so so much but has always wanted to get sundays off to come to church. for about 2 months we havent been able to find her at home, so this week during weekly planning we decided we'll drop her because she hasnt been talking to us or answered at home. sad. BUT THEN, this really awesome person named Heavenly Father told us that maybe we should reconsider, and we ran into her 4 TIMES IN 3 DAYS. She explained to us so much of what is going on and how much she needs us and wants this time for God in her life. We are hoping to be able to find her home more and help her come unto Christ and make those precious covenants that can change her life around. New investigators: Christina and Nyeli. you know some people are just prepared for this gospel when they look at the pamphlet you give them and say "i think this will be a good chagne for me" before we even start teaching. They are two sisters and have been looking for a way to grow closer to God when we ran into them on the streets. God is in the details. biggest news of the week: my investigator down in Graham is getting BAPTIZED THIS COMING MONDAY. And by who? HIS DAD WHO WAS LESS ACTIVE BUT HAS REGAINED THE PREISTHOOD AND IS GOING TO BAPTIZE HIS SON. It is a miracle, and who is playing the piano for the whole program? I really dont know what I did to make them think I could play things. pray for me. As for the title of the letter, this week at church our branch president gave a great talk about the trials we face in our lives and read 3 Ne 14:10-12. Dios da pan. Dios nunca da piedras. Sometimes we look at our circumstances and think why did God give me this rock? But no, God doesnt do that. Dios da pan. and sometiems it takes time to realize it, but I promise and I testify that it's always pan. because He is our loving Heavenly Father. And we are terribly hungry. Just something to remember for your week. rejection of the week: "I am watching the sweet 16. I may have hundreds of dollars on this game so mostly i would just really really appreciate it if you would leave me alone". the church is true, even during march madness! Hermana Reed PS EVERYONE GET OUT AND WATCH YOUR GENERAL CONFERENCE THIS WEEKEND AND REMEMBER THAT MILLIONS OF YEARS PASSED WITHOUT A LIVING PROPHET ON THE EARTH SO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE BLESSING WE HAVE TO HEAR FROM THEM TO LEAD AND GUIDE US YOU WILL BE BLESSED I DO SO PROMISE PLUS HOW CUTE IS THOMAS S MONSON HOW CAN YOU SKIP AN OPPORTUNITY LIKE THAT PICS:
1. spanish specialized training pic :) 2 los fuentes 3 mother daughter pics at womens conference 4 met some athiests that gave us free carpet squares #blessings 5 notice the food.... classic hermanas 6 SISTAHS :) BUENOS DIAS!!!!
okay this week, WOW. We have been so busy. We had a lot of meetings and a lot of things are changing in the mission, definitely for the better! We are seeing so much revelation and our ability as missionaries to discern the needs of our area and our investigators and we feel so much trust from the leaders of the church and its really changing lives!!! This week we had our first ever all spanish missionaries training, so all like 20 of us came and had a conference and it was awesome because branches really are so different than wards so we were able to talk about problems and find ways to fix them that we just cant quite do with our regular district or zone leaders and we also talked a lot of how to work better with our culture even being here in the united states. What a life right who am I. But it was so fun seeing all the misioneras together :) Fun story of the week: so our branch was doing a dance for the relief society birthday activity that the stake was doing and they needed more people so somehow they roped the missionaries into being a part of this dance... Now i thought i was signing up for a cool culture dance with big dresses and flowers and culture but we were quite surprised.. pictures attached, but i PROMISE i am a SPANISH missionary!!!!! hahaha I wish I could show you all the video... it was A SMASHING GOOD TIME. And everyone said the missionaries did a killer job because we just had no idea what we were doing we just had fun with it. Our investigators saw us as real people too! (who'd a thunk we're actually normal?) As for the work this week: it keeps a rollin. laticia talked to her pareja about getting married but he really just doesnt want to. Kinda heartbreaking especially for her, but we are hoping and praying and doing all we can to make sure they still have that spirit so soon they can get married and baptized and start recieving all the blessings god wants to give them. We taught them about temples and eternal families this week and monae, the younger daughter, she says "is there chips in there? Because I'm not gonna be happy if I dont have chips". We had to explain its a bit of a different 'happily ever after' than disneyland... but point is theyre stoked for it someday! Hermana Short is doing so well and adjusting and getting more confident and learning more spanish which is great because my voice is really struggling but good thing God is helping us out. Sometimes the work is hard and people cancel and people say mean things to us but I dont know how I still always hit the pillow smiling. Exhausted, and smiling. I love the mission. ps we went to the beach today... your local hermana reed is as awkward as ever. LOVE YOU ALL. CONGRATS ON THE NEW HOUSE MOM AND DAD CANT WAIT TO SEE IT IN 10 MONTHS! Hermana Reed IV History tends to repeat itself, so I've been told. And this week we had a SWEET view of some history. This week we had another round of exchanges. STL is different for spanish so me and the other STL cover all of the hermanas for the whole mission but we aren't companions so I'm like solo STL and its a lil' rough because I dont know what i'm doing and i'm still a baby missionary so i fail a lot. ANYWAYS we were supposed to have an exchange this week and I was going to go with one of the companions of the other STL (shes in a trio) but like I recieved probably one of the most strongest spiritual impressions i've had in a while that my comp needed to go with hermana huhem. So we changed up everything last minute and hermana huhem and hermana short stayed in federal way meaning i went back to GRAHAM. AKA MY HOME. With hermana souza AKA MY MOM and hermana mcgarity MY AUNT OR SOMETHING. It was so weird being back and it taught me so much about who i am and how i've changed and what i've learned. It was so great seeing some old investigators and my old apartment and wow so many feels. But it was a great exchange!! This week we continued to teach the Fuentes family and they are progressing towards their baptism but we have found out that laticia, the mom, isn't married! So if all things go well we will be having a wedding this week (weddings, I love weddings! This quote applies even more as a missionary). Then she will be able to be baptized with her daughters next week. PRAYERS FOR THIS FAMILY CAUSE I JUST LOVE THEM SO MUCH. We also made prayer rocks with them to help them remember to pray and they wrote "I love hna reed and hna short" on the backs and wow tears. MIRACLE OF THE WEEK: Hermana Short and I had a goal this week to talk to literally everyone like even the people halfway down the street driving away in their car EVERYONE. We knew God was going to provide miracles. It started when we were trying to contact this potential investigator and she wasn't home so we were walking back to our car and we talked to this guy on the street, then we talked to another guy on the street and he was definitely needing the missionaries that day, then we saw our potential come home!!!! So we finished talking to that guy and went and knocked on her door and she didn't answer us... but we were just thinking "it's okay we still needed to talk to that other guy". Then we went to the apartments next to those apartments to contact an old investigator and we knocked on this guys window in his car who was getting ready to leave and surprise he spoke spanish!!! So we had a great conversation with him and he said we could come back and told us of another apartment where there were spanish speakers-WHAT MIRACLE. Then we tried to contact our old investigator but she wasn't there so we started walking back to our car and we run into this guy, Rafael. He had never talked to missionaries before but was so excited to talk to us and he shared how he wanted to change his life and how he didn't like what was happening in his life right now. He said he knows he has sins, and his biggest is he loves to drink but that he wants to change and he doesn't know how to change but wants to find God. He then said he would be more comfortable meeting in a church and he wants to meet some other members first so he could be more comfortable at church. Then we found out HE WAS THE ONE WHO LIVED IN THE APARTMENT THE MAN IN THE CAR TOLD US ABOUT. If we would have been 5 min earlier, Rafael wouldn't have been home yet. If we would have been 5 min later, he would have been in the shower getting ready to go to his brothers house and wouldn't have talked with us. It all happened because we talked to everyone who was even within sight and I know it was such a miracle and God blessing us for talking with EVERYONE. The church is true!! hAVE A GREAT WEEK MY LOVES. Hermana Reed IV fotos:
1 PRAYER ROCKS 2 FW zone training 3 sisters selfie 4 hna mcgarity 5 update hermana souza still doesnt like pics Hola mi familia y amistades! The work just keeps pushing forward here in the good ol' Fed Way, and by keep pushing forward I mean it has changed SO MUCH FOR ME. Throughout the mission I feel like I've been progressing solidly more and more and it's been hard but manageable. This week the learning curve just changed the game and I feel like those video game characters that like run into walls and then they like stand up and smile again but then they just keep running into the wall. Accurate. This week I held my first exchange with the hermanas in Kent. Sister Training leader is a little different in the states because they have the regular STLs and then we have spanish STLs so I am just over the hermanas and my companion spanish STL is in a different companionship. It's hermana huhem and she's actually in graham with hermana souza and hermana mcgarity! Which means I get to go on exchanges with Hermana Souza and Hermana Mcgarity as well! SCORE I GET TO GO BACK TO GRAHAM. I am so excited and I've missed hermana souza loads!!!! That should be fun. Anyways so we did an exchange with Kent but it was my first exchange and I was kinda stressed and mostly didn't know what I was doing so we forgot to tell them to make sure they switched phones and then after we switched companions and started driving away we realized that me and hermana livingston had both phones... not good news. We had to drive all the way back to Kent and try and find the hermanas which didn't work because hermana livingston was also brand new to the area and didn't know where she lived. So half of the exchange was us driving around in Kent but it's okay because we found them and were able to come back and still have a good rest of the exchange :) Maybe someday I'll get better at those, I hope God forgives me. This week we also had MLC, talk about a change of learning curve... all such great missionaries there I was overwhelmed. we had two members of the missionary department come and teach us! Brother King and Brother Gonzalez, IT WAS AMAZING. I was spiritually chastized so much and I just realized I have so much to do in my life and in my mission to do better. Brother King works for the missionary department in their like communications committee and he was in charge of the light the world campaign and he also showed us the videos for the churches easter campaign, we were the first people to see the OFFICIAL video! It will be launched May 31before general conference. Get excited people, it is so good and Jesus Christ is the most AMAZING HUMAN BEING. #PrinceofPeace We have seen so much progress in the work this week. Laticia, Destiny, and Monae Fuentes are all progressing so much! This was their 3rd week at church in a row and every week they just get so excited and so happy for church. They know how much it blesses their lives, especially with all these hard things going on for them. WE taught them Word of Wisdom and Laticia literally went into her kitchen and brought out all her tea and asked "which of these can I drink and which do I need to throw away?" WOW I COULDVE CRIED. She is so prepared and just so willing to change her life to come closer to the Savior. I love the power that His atonement has. Their date is tentatively for Marzo 25. Lots of prayers that they can continue to progress for that day :) We also started teaching another family, Tony, David, and su esposa. We set an appointment with them and then earlier that day Tony texted us and said "we are making you dinner for the appointment tonight do you like tortas?" and we were like Tony don't worry you dont have to make us food! He said "too late, already bought the stuff". more or less translated as such. BUT THE TORTAS WERE SO GOOD. And they all want to be baptized!! Tortas and Baptisms, does it get much better than that? I love my Savior and I love the chance I have to share his beautiful and glorious message with the world here in Federal Way! Estoy agredicida que tambien puedo predicar su Evanglio en espanol y trabajar con estas personas que son tan marivillosas. Que Dios los bendiga esta semana! con amor, Hermana Reed IV PICS:
1 comps with hermana huhem for a day METAS CUMPLIDAS 2 HEY THERE FED WEEZY 3 photo fail tag check 4 MISIONERAS PARA SIEMPRE BUENOS DIAS BUENOS DIAS YES I AM STILL ALIVE I know we all thought I wouldn't make it, but I've made it past the child crying all night and not sleeping phase and Hermana Short is eating solids now!!! Such a proud mom :) My new greenie comp is Hermana Short! She is actually so awesome and basically a better missionary than I am, BLESSINGS. She is from Sandy, Utah (real creative hermana). Just kidding utah is the best. She went to mexico for the MTC and is basically at least 10 shades darker than me. I promised her WA will fix that real fast :) She is such a blessing to me and I think she is actually training me... which is good looks like I need it. We have had such a great week of miracles and rain and we found out our apartment complex has a GYM WHAT THE MIRACLES I KNOW. Fun fact of the week is that as many of you know I'm kinda a talker, and with last weeks companion jumble with lots of lessons where my companions didn't know spanish I've had to be a talker.. and so Sunday night I started losing my voice. This whole week it has been gone and to say I sound like a toad is an understatement. I have to scream to be able to have the people on the streets hear me and even then my voice is cracking and being all gross the whole time. hermana Short has still not heard what my actual voice sounds like, but someday I think I will convince her that I actually am a girl. Through all of that, it has still worked out and we've seen so many miracles and lessons LLENA DEL ESPIRITU. We are teaching a family, los fuentes, that are progressing so much. Last week they got evicted from their house, but they came to church last sunday and then were able to get back into their house for a few more weeks! It was so awesome as she told us that she knows God is blessing her because they are going to church. They came again this week and are loving it and loving feeling the spirit. They also came to our branch activity this last Saturday and we were able to show them the baptisimal font and talk to them about what their baptism will be like and the spirit was so strong. I know God has helped us to find them and has been working with them to know that this is the step they need to take in life. I am so blessed to be able to work with them! We also had another festival of finding this week where we all switched up companionships and went finding for all of Saturday. My comp was teaching all by herself in spanish and wow I'm just such a proud mom :) The attached pictures of me and Hermana Short describe our relationship pretty well and I promise we do do missionary work too ;) I love this gospel!! I love being a missionary and sharing the message of joy with the world. I know God loves us and that Jesus Christ is there to lift us through our trials no matter what. I love being a trainer and I love being with my companion as she eats pasole for the first time and talks to strangers and it's just such a blessing to be on the Lord's errand. Have a blessed week my loved ones. Hermana Reed IV Fotos:
1 two of the 11 comps from last week :) 2 Monae's drawing of me I guess my hair is lookin real good these days 3/4 IM A MOM 5 this was a nice photo outside this nice russian ladys house and im moving to ukraine because it makes me happy FW district transfer 1 feat woodland we're so WA it hurts A week of weeks here in the good ol' Fed Way.
This week I may have set a new record of number of companions in a week... 11! I was basically a homeless cat for a week and jumped around companions. The work still got done and we saw so many miracles! My companions consisted of Sister Rasmussen, the mission president's wife! That was so awesome, even though she doesn't know a bunch of spanish, her spirit helped us so much! I felt bad, we had appointments where the people literally spoke no English. usually they know at least a little, but these ones no. So she wasn't able to teach a lot but she helped me so much and we saw some miracles!!! I was also with Sisters Efnor and Thurman, Hermanas Lewis and Baird, Hermana Garcia, Sisters Zavala and Beazer, Hermana Stewart, and Hermana Acuna. IT was so awesome. Big news of the week is that now as I go back to regular hermana life with a new companion my new comp is going to be a BABY GREENIE :) I'm training! MOM IM HAVING A BABY! It is going to be a humbling experience, but I'm so excited to help her realize how great the work is. This transfer, we had 60/74 companionships got transferred, so basically everyone overwent a change. It should bring some great miracles for our mission. I don't have much time, I'll send more pictures next week! Love you lots! hasta la proxima semana. Hermana Reed IV mi querida family. quickest of all updates: the trial of faith has been passed and my mission president changed the rule so that we can email friends again! I'm glad I was willing to be obedient, but more glad that now I can email everyone again! YAY BLESSINGS. This week has been a crazy one. we had a few days with a TON of rain... see parking lot pool attached... We haven't had any crazy snow storms, but we've had something even crazier.. SUN. THE SUN CAME OUT IN WASHINGTON. It had been a long dry spell, but the sun does still exist. It feels so good and today I didn't wear any tights out of the house... first time my legs have seen the sun since Mexico. Praise this glorious day. One awesome miracle happened from the snow storm though. So last week we were pushing all the cars up the hill right? We met this man with his cute lil wife who was 5 months pregnant so she obviosly couldnt push the car but they were super nice and we found out they spoke spanish! That was basically the only interaction we had with them, but then 4 days later we were knocking doors and we knocked on this door and nobody was answering. then we heard someone coming up the stairs, and who could it be? EDGAR IN THE FLESH. The man who's car we pushed!!! He said he was home for only like 10 seconds to grab his insulin because he's diabetic but his exact words and I quote. "But when can you come back?" OKAY SO WHAT. It was such a miracle and definitely divinely inspired, every part from pushing the peoples cars to knocking those doors at the specific time to him forgetting his insulin. he is so awesome and I can't wait to share the joy of Christ's message with him either. Another miracle this week, the family that came to church my very first week here hasn't been able to come back because Laticia, the mom, has been really sick with some interesting things in her head. kinda scary. But this week they accepted the invitation to be baptized! her and her two daughters. They are so excited and even with all the pain she's in she still reads the book of mormon and wants to come to church so bad. God is so good and he definitely has blessed us this week. A sadder note is that my companion is going home a week early, she heads back to arizona tomorrow! That leaves me a week companionless... we will see where i go/what I do but most likely i'll go with the English sisters and just double cover our areas meaning we'll cover where they are and also the lessons we have set in. Sister Rasmussen, my mission president's wife, is actually going to come be my companion for a day, so that should be fun :) Oh another awesome thing we did this week/funny story. We had a youth activity for all the youth in our ward and the english ward we share with. It was hawaiian themed and this less active we found gave us lavalavas from somoa! Not sure if we wore them right, but ya know. Anyways, this member from the english ward looked at us with the lavalavas and says "Well where are your... tacos?" and we were like um what. and he said "dont you have those big skirts in the spanish branch?" hahahahahahahah SUCH RACISM BUT IT WAS FUNNY. I know the church is true! I know that God has a plan for all of us, even if that plan is confusing and complicated, it is perfect and I know that no matter what happens God is watching over us and helping us get through. I'm so happy to be a missionary. Hermana Reed ps this week a less active family came to church that we've been working with and they casually pulled out tamales from their bags and were eating during sacrament meeting and i laughed harder than i have but at least they were there mi bonita familia,
Another week of craziness here in the good ol' Federal Way. We had pday today because we had a huge storm here and basically all of washington shuts down whenever there is snow because everyone panics. Seriously, libraries closed, school closed, roads closed, but it's okay because cafe rio was open :) We spent hours pushing peoples cars up this hill by our house because everyone's tires just spin out out of control! Oh Washington. Little do they know they only recieved like 4 inches of snow. Nonetheless, snowmen cover every corner. Gotta love it. This week for the work was really good! We are working so hard. With the cold has come a looooooooott of enfermidades. All of our investigators are sick so none were able to come to church or keep a lot of their appointments, but God is still good and helped us meet a lot of new people just walking around! I am still floored every time we meet someone on the streets and then find out they speak spanish. Like the odds of that are not real! God blesses us and places us in the path to find these people prepared for the gospel. He is the greatest. This week we had a special opportunity to learn from Elder Ardern of the 70! He came to a special zone conference with just our zone and the auburn zone... so about 1/3 of our mission got to hear from him so I felt super lucky! He is from new zealand so his accent was entertaining as well. His biggest message he shared was that God has a plan perfect for our area, for our investigators, for us. We must follow the spirit to know these plans and we must be simple and clear in how we say things so that people know what God wants for them. I love speaking spanish because the only way i know how to talk is simply, I literally don't have a vocabulary big enough for anything else. Once again, God is just too good. Hermana Reed is safe and happy and loving life! 2 weeks left with my companion and she goes home! It's so weird to know i'll only be with my companion for a little while but we're working so hard and trying to do the Lord's will. wish us luck! Oh also, big news. Our president changed some rules this week and I will now only be able to email my immediate family. I will be able to have them forward things to people, but as for direct emails my family will be extra blessed ;) This is really hard because I love emailing my friends and recieving things from them! But I know God will bless us in our efforts. mucho amor a todos Hermana Reed |
